Even though Christmas day only comes round once a year, it seems that it gets bigger and more problematic with each passing year, as more and more must have gadgets, gifts and other bits and pieces top the country's Christmas list. While some people find organising Christmas quite stressful, it can be very difficult for people who have friends or relatives that live far way from them, such as loved ones who live at the other end of the country, or even the other side of the world. As consumers have to post all their parcels and packages by a certain date in December in order to guarantee that they will arrive at their destination before Christmas, organisation and preparation really are key, to ensure that your Christmas is hassle free. However, with a deadline like that looming, post offices are going to be very busy, so here is a quick guide to how to have a stress-free postal experience this Christmas.
Prepare
One mistake a lot of people make when preparing Christmas parcels, is not preparing them early enough. This means that you will have to be extremely organised well in advance of December, so if you have relatives of friends in other countries, such as France or Germany, and you need to send parcels to them, then make sure you know what you need to send them. This may involve hassling your loved ones for present ideas, but they may welcome your insistence, as it will give them a chance to find out what you would like for Christmas. Once you've found out what gifts they'd like, then you can go shopping and buy them.
Organisation
Once you have the gifts, then it's time to think about preparing your parcel. Make sure that you have a parcel box or paper that you can use, and ensure that the parcel is securely wrapped. If you're going to rely on a traditional postage service, such as the Royal Mail in the UK, then you need to be aware of their last posting days for international parcels, (that's if you're sending parcels abroad, to France, Germany, Spain etc) and their last posting date for domestic parcels, which relates to parcels that are travelling in your own country, so if you're posting from the UK, that would be parcels that are going elsewhere in the UK mainland and islands.
Alternatives
Of course, if you can't get to a post office, or simply want to avoid the whole experience altogether, then you can go to an independent delivery service, such as a courier service in order to get your parcels delivered. These companies will often pick up parcels from your home or your place of work, which means that you don't have to wait around and queue in order to post your parcel.
So there you have it, with a bit of preparation, organisation and a little research, you can avoid unnecessary stress when trying to send parcels to France, Germany or simply to another city in the UK.
